Class Code Discount Pricing

Class Code Discount Pricing

This document will teach you how to create and apply the Class Code Discount Pricing feature in DockMaster. It is assumed that the person creating and using the routine is already familiar with the DockMaster Software System including POS and the Inventory modules.

Purpose

DockMaster has the ability to discount on a per inventory item basis in the Point Of Sale module, specific inventory items that a customer purchases. For instance Wholesale or Club members, Commercial customers etc may get special pricing on certain items purchased but not on other items. An example would be marina tenants that purchase Gas, cleaning supplies, etc. get 5 cents off per gallon of fuel and 10% off on certain other inventory items. The attached class code(s) would automatically apply the price level assigned for the discounts. This is done automatically when the Customer ID is added to the POS ticket.

A customer may have one or many Price Level classes. However there is never a requirement that a Class Code be assigned for Retail Pricing. (Normally Price Level One)

  1. Prerequisites

    1. Price Levels must be defined on the items that are discounted in the Inventory and Fuel Maintenance files.

    1. Inventory Class Codes must be defined in Inventory Class Code Maintenance.

    1. The Class Code has to be entered into the Class Code field not the Sub-Class field on the items in the Inventory and Fuel Maintenance files.

    1. All Inventory items that are to be discounted must have the Class Code attached.

    1. All Customers that get the discount must have the Class Code and Price Level defined on their Customer File.

  1. Setup

  1. Create or Maintain the Class Codes first. Go to DockMaster / File Maintenance / Inventory Control / Maintenance Functions / Inventory Class Code Maintenance, and enter a Code ID up to twelve digits in length. Enter an appropriate Description for the Code, click Save. Repeat as needed until all codes are added.  See example below

  1. Now add the Class Code and Price line to each Inventory/Fuel item that will be discounted. See examples below (Note price lines can also be updated from the Price Factor and Price Change By Percent Routines. However do not utilize these if you do not have a clear understanding of what these routines do.)

  1. Now add the Class Code(s) to the Customer File. Go to DockMaster / File Maintenance / Customer File, and enter or select a Customer ID. Click on Tab 6 (POS/Order Entry) and choose the applicable Price Classes line for each Class Code to be attached. The examples below show 2 Class Codes attached one on Price 2 and one on Price 3.

This example shows the class code for Fuel on Price 2. (5 cents off)

  1. The Sale

  1. From Point Of Sale start a new ticket, select or enter the Customer Number, then in the Item Number field, enter the Item’s part number being purchased. The Item is added at the discounted price

  1. Tips.

    1. Always add the Customer ID prior to adding any items on the POS ticket or the Price Class discount will not calculate automatically upon entry of the item number. If the Customer ID is added after the items were put on the ticket the item prices will recalculate and present the proper discounted prices.

    1. When adding fuel part numbers to the POS ticket you can type the total amount purchased in the quantity field by preceding it with a $.

Example in the image above the customer purchased $25.00 worth of Mid-Grade Gas. To calculate the purchase correctly the Quantity would have to be entered as 7.555 gallons. Not all pumps display 3 positions; to get around this the dollar amount can be entered in the quantity column as $25.00. Make sure the $ is entered first as this is what prompts the system to calculate the proper gallons sold.
