Forms Caption Maintenance​

Purpose

The Form Capture functionality gives the user the ability to change the field names in any given form. For example, you can change the display description for Work Phone in the Customer Maintenance file to display Business Phone.

The new field name that displays will be changed for all users on the specified account. The Forms Caption functionality is not meant for all users, therefore a password should be set up with your System Administrator. For help on setting up passwords, please talk to a DockMaster Support Representative.

Forms Caption Maintenance​

To display the Forms Caption Maintenance window, press the Control + F10 Key from any form.

  • Form – The name of the Form will default. If you are in the Customer Maintenance file, fCustomer will default. This field cannot be modified.
  • Language - Custom is the default. Check with your System Administrator to modify the default language.
  • Type - This is the type of object we are editing the caption for. Objects include Labels, Grid Captions, Grid Column Captions and Form Captions.
  • Current Caption - This will display the current caption for the prompt. The overall default for each caption will be the standard USA caption. If language of UK is selected in parameters and a UK caption for that prompt exists then the current UK caption would show. If there is a CUSTOM caption for this prompt it will be used. CUSTOM prompts will override all others.
  • New Caption - Show the current caption for the language selected. Clearing this field after a caption has been entered will reset the caption back to the current caption.
  • Save – Press the Save button from the Command Panel to make your changes.
