Dockmaster Lock Handling

Since the release of Version 8.4.30 of Dockmaster, the record locking process has been improved.

In previous versions the lock was placed on the port that was connected to the DockMaster database. When a lock was created, you needed to call support to unlock the record if you could not find the PC using that port and have them unlock the record so you could use it. Please follow the instructions below to clear locks quickly and skip future calls to support.

In the new locking scheme, the lock is placed on the actual clerk. When a lock occurs now, you will see a message similar to below.

This tells you the clerk and workstation that has locked the record.

To unlock - You can then go to the workstation listed and either ask the person(clerk) to get out of the record or, if person (clerk) is absent log them out manually by exiting their DM.

Another advantage to this improved locking scheme is that whatever work was being done, can be accessed again by the clerk who had the record locked in most instances without losing any of the work that had been done.

If exiting that record does not release the lock, have the person(clerk) exit DM completely and the lock will drop shortly after.

REMEMBER: It is best practice to always save your work and close unused Work Orders when leaving your station unattended.
