Price Change Using Factor

Purpose: This program is used to calculate price and/or cost changes for parts containing a Price Factor. Remember, this program only calculates the new price and/or cost changes; the Update Inventory Price/Cost program will update the Inventory File.

 

It is recommended that you ensure you have a valid backup of your account prior to running this process.

 

From the menu select, Inventory Management, Pricing, Price Change Using Factor.

The following message is displayed: "This routine only calculates a price change for the parts selected. The Update Inventory Price/Cost program must be run to update the Inventory File. Press OK to continue."

 

  • Parts - Enter a Part Number or leave the prompt blank to select ALL parts; type a part number or key word preceded by a backslash "" to access a cross-reference list.

 

  • Parts List - Enter a pre-defined Parts List Name or bypass this prompt. Lists can be created through the Report Generator program.

 

  • Vendors - Enter a Vendor Number or leave the prompt blank to select ALL Vendors; type a key word preceded by a backslash "" to access a cross-reference list.

 

  • Departments - Enter a Department or leave the prompt blank to select ALL Departments.

 

  • Effective Date - Enter the Effective Date of the Price/Cost changes; the default is the current system date.

 

  • Price Column or Cost (1-5/C) for Factoring - Click the down arrow to enter a Price Column or Cost (1-5/C) for Factoring. The valid options here are as follows:

 

  • If you are basing your price/cost changes on a particular Price Column, enter 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5; these are the 5 price columns in the Inventory File.

 

  • If you are basing your price/cost changes on Vendor Cost, select the letter ‘C’. The system will use the vendor designated as your Primary Vendor on all parts selected to calculate prices based on Cost using this process.

 

  • Click the Calculate button to calculate Prices/Cost using the criteria entered.

 

  • The system will display the following message once all prices have been calculated: [#] prices updated. [#] items were locked and skipped. Press OK to continue.

 

  • Remember, this process only calculates the new prices/cost; the program Update Inventory Price/Cost will make the actual changes to the Inventory File.

 

 

Completing the Price Factor Process

The following steps should be performed to calculate price or cost changes using Price Factors.

 

  • Run the program Price/Cost Change Using Factor to calculate the price and cost changes. Note: This process only calculates the new price or cost changes, no update to the Inventory File is performed.

 

  • If desired, you can run a sample report using the Report Generator to view the calculated price/cost changes that will occur. Use the attributes called New Price 1, New Price 2, New Price 3, New Price 4, New Price 5, Cost Change, Effective Price (effective price date), Effective Cost (effective cost date).

 

  • Run the program Update Inventory Price/Cost to update the Inventory File with the calculated changes.
