Tool Master File Maintenance

Tool Maintenance

Purpose: Allows the user to create a Master File to track all major tools.

From the menu select Service, Tool Maintenance.

  1. Tool Id - Enter a unique Id to track a particular tool. The Id can either be alpha characters or you can have the system generate a Tool Id by entering a "N" for new or pressing the New button from the Command Panel.
  2. Tool Type - Select a Tool Type from your Tool code file to define what type of tool this might be. If you want a listing of valid tool types, press the F6 key or List F6 from the Command Panel. This is not a free form field.
  3. Asset Control/Serial number - Enter in a control number to track your tools. Used to identify for accounting purposes which fixed asset this tool might be. Maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters.
  4. Cost - Enter in the cost of the tool.
  5. Storage Location - Enter in the facility where this tool is usually kept. This is a free form field with a maximum of 25 characters.
  6. Location Code - Select a valid location code of where the tool is stored. To get a listing of valid location codes, press the F6 key or List F6 from the Command Panel.
  7. Save - Press the Save button from the Command Panel to save the tool information.

Deleting a Tool

Tool Id - Search for the Tool Id that identifies the tool you want to delete. Press the F6 Key or List F6 from the Tool Id field.

Click the Delete icon

Important: Tools cannot be deleted unless they are checked in.
