Backup Parameters

Purpose To set up the parameters for your nightly file-save. The System Backup Using Parameters program will use these options.

From the menu select, System Administration, Backups, Backup Parameters.

  • Start Immediate Backup - Click the Start Immediate Backup option to start the backup when the Run Backup program is initiated. The Sleep Offset prompt will be inactive if this option is selected.
  • Sleep Offset - Enter a Sleep Offset time or 0 (zero) to start the save immediately. This feature allows you to set the file-save to go off at a certain time every night. Note: You must still put in a tape and start the backup process daily.
  • Verify Media - Click on this option to verify that the media is not corrupted after the file-save is finished. This option tests the data tape for parity errors after the save is completed.
  • Media Type - Click on a Media Type for the backup. Click on the down arrow to see additional choices.
  • Print File Statistics Report - Click on one of the options to print the File Statistics Report. This report prints after the file-save is finished. You can choose to print this report Never, Always, or on a certain day of the week.
  • File Re-size Calculations - Click on one of the options to perform File Re-size Calculations. This process calculates new file sizes for the whole system based on whatever size calculation is currently in the stat-file.
  • Run as Phantom - Click on this option to run a file-save as a Phantom background process.
  • Click Save to save the parameters.
