Server Initial Install Processes

Server Initial Install Processesā€‹

TheĀ Server Manager software should be installed onĀ theĀ DockMasterĀ server prior toĀ installing theĀ DockMasterĀ client, Layout Designer or Point Of Sale on any workstation. Follow the instructions outlined below to perform the installation. Note setup of theĀ Server Manager requires a valid DSN and Database name, please locate and have them ready prior to beginning installation.

  1. Download the ServerSetup.exe file from theĀ DockMasterĀ FTP site.
  2. Locate the folder where the file was saved to and open it to run the installation.
  3. When prompted answer Yes to perform an Install/Upgrade of theĀ Server.
  4. The file will un-package the software and prompt to Resume the installation. Click Next to continue
  5. When the install has completed click Finish.
  6. Open the Start menu and locate the folder under programs named My-Villages Inc., open it and selectĀ Server, then selectĀ Server Manager.
  7. Once theĀ Server Manager opens perform the following steps. Note that a DSN name and a DB (database)Ā name is required for each database that is installed onĀ theĀ DockMasterĀ server.
    • Click the Add DatabaseĀ button.
    • In the DSN name field enter a valid DSN.
    • In the IP Address field enter the IP address of the server where theĀ DockMasterĀ Database resides.
    • In the Port # field enter 9000.
    • In the DB Name field enter the Database Name for theĀ DockMasterĀ account connecting to.
    • Ignore the DB PW field.
    • In the Storage Loc field enter the path to the network shared folder that will store the PDF documents for layout designer. Note if Layout Designer is not being installed this field should still be maintained. The shared path should be on the server and should point to theĀ \servername\MTResources\PDF Form TemplatesĀ folder. If the folder does not exist create it with full read/write access for everyone.
    • Click Ok.
    • Click the Test Connection button.
    • Enter the DSN that was created in the DSN Name field.
    • Enter a validĀ systemĀ userĀ id in the User Name field.
    • Click OK, the system will test the connection to verify the setup was successful. if the connection failed verify that all information is correct and retry.
    • Repeat item 7 for each additional database as needed.
    • Once all connections have been created click the Exit button.
    • Server Manager setup is complete.
